Exciting News!

It might be a good idea to read ‘Raising The Stakes’ – then you’ll know what I’m on about!

So, the exciting news is that I’ve been asked to be part of the Eastern Regional Team. You can see the complete ‘regional picture’ in the 2.0 article, but the map below shows the specific countries in the Eastern Region – Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia.
As Regional Manager I’ll be working alongside the Regional Leader, Greg Swinamer, other staff, partner churches and operational centres. This challenging, but exciting role, will involve helping to facilitate effective ministry in each country; leadership development, church planting, mission teams, or any combination. It will bring opportunities to engage in ministry projects in each country; helping to position people and resources effectively. Another great advantage is being more closely connected to my home church, Life Church Burnley, where Jeff Brunton is currently overseeing NLI’s Leadership Development conferences in Ukraine (Crimea).

Over the next few months I’ll be transitioning into the role with an official start after some furlough in November. I’ll also be continuing to coordinate the remaining 2008 mission teams.

Raising The Stakes – NLI 2.0

Next Level International has been pioneering in Europe for over 17 years. Our mission is to, “empower a whole new generation of radical leaders to equip, transform & expand the Church in Europe.” This has been done in 3 strategic ways; leadership development conferences, partnering with nationals to plant churches, and mobilising mission teams from around the world to support the work of these church plants. During this time, thousands of leaders have been trainined, almost 100 churches have been planted in 7 nations, and many more people have been impacted through short-term mission teams.

But in 2009, things are about to change. NLI is upping the ante; raising the stakes! We’ve set an audacious goal to develop ‘ministry relationships’ in all 47 European nations by 2020! There are still millions of unreached people in Europe; people who need to hear the life-changing message of Jesus; need to grow in their faith; need to have the opportunity to be part of a vibrant local church community. Our core values have not changed; we will always seek to develop leaders, plant churches, and mobilise people on mission, but we want to be more effective in doing this: to have greater Kingdom impact across Europe.

The structure of NLI is going to change. We’re calling it NLI 2.0. The current 3 departments (LD; CP; STM) will be replaced by 6 European regions (Baltic; Atlantic; Mediterranean; Central; Balkan; Eastern). The regions cover particular geographical areas with each nation having its own unique flavour; culture; people groups; needs. Each Regional Team, (NLI staff, Operational Centres, National leaders etc.) will coordinate the particular projects and aspects of ministry needed in each nation.

Since its inception, NLI has probably never taken such radical steps to see transformation in Europe. The vision is huge; the challenge great. But we believe this is our God-given mandate and are passionate to see more people impacted by God’s grace and power. Please pray for the NLI staff and partner churches at this time.
